Finding high quality, affordable, convenient childcare can be difficult for many families. One of our main aims at Footsteps is to offer a ‘complete childcare service’. We do this by caring for babies and children before they start school, and then continue to provide childcare for school age children aged 3 to 11 years, before and after school, and in the school holidays. We have seven seater vehicles, which enables us to take children to school in the mornings, and pick them up at lunchtime or at the end of the school day. We run an affordable holiday club during all the school holidays, with an exciting programme of activities and outings. In our Day Nursery we have full and part-time places for babies aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. For these young children we also have a sleep room, milk room, changing room and safe, secure outdoor play areas. Children aged 2-3 years have their own area with home corner, dressing-up area, construction and jigsaw area, sand, water and painting area.
When the children have had their third birthday, they move to a pre-school area, registered with the local authority to provide education. In Caerphilly, we are the only Nursery registered to provide this service, and a recent ESTYN inspection praised the high standard of education delivered to the children. We intend to become registered Early Education providers in Pentrebach as soon as possible. Our pre-school rooms have a wide variety of books and materials to encourage pre-reading and writing skills, a computer area, and a selection of other toys and equipment suitable for this age group. Outdoor play is also planned and encouraged in our Nursery garden.
Our ‘Fun Club’ is for school age children, which has plenty of board games, creative equipment, books, a television, DVD player, and games systems to keep the children in this area busy before and after school and in the school holidays. As a parent myself, I know that juggling work and a family can be difficult. Footsteps can give you the solution you need -‘ the complete service’.
We are registered and inspected by CSSIW, and annual inspection reports are published on the CSSIW website www.cssiw.gov.uk
Footsteps staff have received training in helping children who have additional learning needs. We welcome children who may need a little extra help with their developmental milestones.
